Why mobile is not optional in a scrap yard
Scrap work happens in the yard, in the cab and at the supplier's site, not at a desk. The apps put the entire workflow in the field where the work actually lives.
Owners and managers are tied to the office because the only way to approve a purchase or check tonnage is at the desktop. Site visits, vendor meetings and lunch get pushed back.
The Manager app pushes approvals, KPIs and exceptions to the phone. Approve a high-value ticket from the truck, check live tonnage from a vendor meeting, push back to the office only when you choose.
Drivers carry paper sheets, scribble weights, lose them in the cab, and the office pieces together the day from memory. Half the disputes you fight are about which load went where.
The Driver app shows the day's route, captures POD with photo and signature on glass, and works offline in spotty coverage. Every load is timestamped, geolocated and on the office screen the moment it happens.
Suppliers call to ask about prices, payment status and last week's tickets. Each call is 5-10 minutes of someone's day, and the supplier hangs up no happier than they started.
The Supplier app shows live material rates, last-30-day ticket history, balance and payment status. Suppliers self-serve from their phone instead of dialing your office.

Frequently asked questions
Are the apps native or just a mobile-responsive web page?+
Driver and Manager are native apps (iOS + Android) for offline reliability, GPS, camera, push notifications and biometric login. The Supplier app is a responsive web app deliberately - it works on any phone with no install, which is what most suppliers want.
How well does the Driver app work without cell coverage?+
The day's assigned jobs, addresses and route are cached the moment the driver opens the app. POD photos, weights and signatures are captured offline and sync the moment the device reconnects. Drivers can run a full day in a coverage dead zone without losing data.
Can different drivers see only their own jobs?+
Yes. Each driver authenticates with their own credentials and only sees the jobs assigned to them or to their truck. Managers can see all drivers; dispatchers can see the routes they own. RBAC is consistent with the web app.
How do push notifications work?+
Notifications fire on the events your role cares about - new job assigned, high-value ticket pending approval, supplier payment due, low-stock alert. Each user picks which categories they want and on which device. Notifications respect quiet hours per user.
